Located in the outback Queensland town of Barcaldine, the
Australian Workers Heritage Centre is the custodian
of the rich heritage, history and traditions of all
working Australians.
Barcaldine was catapulted into the history books as the headquarters
of one of the greatest upheavals in Australia's working
history - the Great Shearers' Strike of 1891.
The award winning Australian Workers Heritage Centre records these
historic events as part of its tribute to the nation's
workers. Children are welcome
and there is Interactive displays and children's playground
available for them. The Centre has a child friendly
environment.
